Tuxedo Junction has its foundations in 1987 as an all-male a cappella ensemble Young Barbershop Singers, led by Jeff Carroll, then shortly renamed to A Cappella Fellas then The A Capella Barbershop Chorus. The group later morphed into its present form of mixed male and female singers, and became known as Tuxedo Junction Vocal Ensemble.
From inception until present day, we have been under the musical direction of prominent Perth musicians Rob Kay, Alexander Platts and currently Simone Bishop.
We are known in Perth for our professional musical sound yet also enjoy a warm social atmosphere. We chat over supper during our rehearsal intermission, and have regular social events and even musical weekends away.
We perform regularly at parties, corporate and charity dinners, outdoor events, festivals, street parties and many other events. We also stage our own concerts regularly. You may well have seen us carolling in the streets of Northbridge or in Forrest Place during the Christmas season. Some of our performance highlights include the Perth Concert Hall, Morning Melodies at His Maj, Telethon, Appealathon, York Jazz Festival, Town of Cottesloe’s Music for Pleasure, Perth Convention Centre, Voice Moves choir bashes, Town of Victoria Park’s Arts Season, City of Joondalup’s Sunday Serenades.
